Rebranded front-ends over the YCBT SDK from the ring's chipset manufacturer. Different logo, same problems:
- Clunky UI that looks like it was built in 2012
- Broken translations in half the languages
- Background sync that forgets to actually sync
- Sleep data that often doesn't add up to time-in-bed
- Ads inside a health-tracking app
- No data export. No API. No integrations.
I built a replacement called Ringlo. It's a drop-in alternative — same BLE protocol, same ring, different app.
What Ringlo does that SmartHealth doesn't
- Sleep stages that add up correctly. We handle the overlapping-block bug that inflates SmartHealth's totals.
- Proper readiness scoring. Composite of HRV, resting HR, sleep duration, and sleep quality — like Oura's daily score.
- Real trends. Week / month / year views that are actually navigable.
- HRV-derived stress. Not gospel, but directionally useful.
- 13 languages with translations done by humans, not machine translation.
- Data export. JSON download anytime from Settings.
- Dark mode that doesn't hurt your eyes.
- No ads. Ever.
- Privacy. We don't sell your health data. We'd rather have 10,000 paying users than 10 million ad-supported ones.
What it does NOT do (yet)
- Apple Health / Google Fit sync — on the roadmap
- Strava integration — on the roadmap
- PC / Mac desktop app — not planned
- FDA-approved medical device claims — we're not a medical device and won't pretend to be
Compatibility
Ringlo works with rings built on the Actions Semiconductor ATS8266 chipset with a Goodix GH3018 PPG sensor. That's most AliExpress / Temu / Amazon "Smart Ring" listings under $50.
Easiest check: if your ring pairs with SmartHealth, HBand, Wearfit, or YCBT Life, it likely works with Ringlo. Download the app (free trial) and hit scan to find out definitively — takes 10 seconds.
Pricing
- 14-day free trial. Everything unlocked. No credit card required.
- $3.99/month or $29.99/year after trial.
- Cancel anytime from your app store.
Setup
- Download Ringlo from the App Store or Google Play.
- Create an account (email or Google sign-in).
- Hit "Add Ring" on the dashboard. Hold your ring within a foot of your phone.
- Wait 10-15 seconds for pairing to complete.
- Uninstall SmartHealth if you don't need it anymore.
The fine print
I'm a solo developer, not a venture-backed startup. Ringlo is a real business — not a side project — but it's run by one person. If something breaks, email support@ringloapp.com and a human (me) will respond within 24 hours.
Why does that matter? Because SmartHealth's support is a dropbox for complaints that never get read. Ringlo isn't.
Ringlo launched on both app stores in April 2026. Download it here and give it a shot.
