How to Pair a Cheap Smart Ring with Your Phone (Step-by-Step)

Cheap smart rings don't come with great instructions. Here's the 60-second process that works for almost every ATS8266-based ring — DL110, Colmi R02/R06/R10, and most generic AliExpress / Temu listings.

Before you start

  1. Charge the ring for at least 30 minutes. Most pairing failures are just a dead battery. The charger is usually a small magnetic cradle that came in the box.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone. Not just in Control Center — go to Settings and make sure it's actually on.
  3. Don't try to pair it from the phone's Bluetooth settings. Cheap smart rings use BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), which doesn't appear in the standard phone pairing menu. You pair them from inside a companion app.

Pairing with Ringlo (recommended)

  1. Download Ringlo from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Open the app. Pick your language, create an account (email or Google / Apple sign-in).
  3. Pick the features you want to enable. You can change these later.
  4. On the "Pair Your Ring" screen, tap Scan.
  5. Put the ring within 12 inches of your phone.
  6. Your ring should appear in the list within 5-10 seconds. On a DL110 it's highlighted with a teal border as "Your Ring."
  7. Tap it. Wait ~15 seconds for the handshake to complete.
  8. Done. Your dashboard appears and the ring starts measuring.

Pairing with SmartHealth / HBand / Wearfit

If you're going to use the stock app, the process is similar but the UI varies:

  1. Download the app listed on your ring's packaging.
  2. Open it → sign up (email / phone).
  3. Tap the + icon or "Add Device" button.
  4. Choose "Ring" from the device type list (some apps ask).
  5. Scan → tap your ring → wait for "Bound" confirmation.

Be prepared for the stock apps to demand phone, contact, and SMS permissions you didn't think a ring would need. That's one of the reasons we built Ringlo.

If scanning finds nothing

1. Is the ring advertising?

When a smart ring is ready to pair, it broadcasts a BLE advertisement every 100ms. If the ring has been idle for a while, it may have gone to sleep. Plug it into the charger for 10 seconds, then unplug it. That wakes it up and re-starts advertising.

2. Is another app already connected?

BLE rings can only connect to one phone at a time. If the ring is paired with another phone nearby (your partner's phone, an old phone in a drawer), it won't advertise itself for pairing. Disconnect or turn off Bluetooth on that other device.

3. Did a previous pairing get stuck?

On iOS:

  1. Settings → Bluetooth
  2. Find "YCBT", "YCSDK", "DL110", "Colmi", or similar under "My Devices"
  3. Tap the (i) icon → "Forget This Device"
  4. Close and reopen Ringlo, then scan again

On Android:

  1. Settings → Connected devices → See all
  2. Tap the gear icon next to any old ring pairings → Forget
  3. Close and reopen the app, then scan again

4. Is your phone in airplane mode or low-power mode?

Low-power mode on iOS can reduce BLE scan frequency. Turn it off and try again.

5. The nuclear option

If nothing works:

  1. Force-close the app
  2. Toggle Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on
  3. Restart your phone
  4. Put the ring on the charger for 60 seconds, then take it off
  5. Open the app and scan again

This fixes about 95% of "won't pair" cases. The remaining 5% are usually defective rings — if a freshly charged ring won't advertise at all, contact the seller.
