What App Works With My Cheap Smart Ring?
You bought a smart ring on AliExpress, Temu, or Amazon, the bundled app is rough, and you want something better. Good news: you almost certainly don't need a new ring — you need a better app for the one you have. Here's how to find it.
What app works with an AliExpress or Temu smart ring?
Almost every cheap smart ring runs one of two Bluetooth protocols. YCBT is the protocol behind the rings that ship with the SmartHealth, HBand, Wearfit, or YCBT Life apps. BlueX is the protocol behind the Colmi rings that ship with QRing or Colmi Fit. Ringlo works with both — so in most cases you keep the ring you already own and simply change the app.
How do I tell which protocol my ring uses?
Look at the stock app your ring came with. It maps cleanly to one of the two protocols:
| If your stock app is… | Your ring's protocol is… |
|---|---|
| SmartHealth, HBand, Wearfit, YCBT Life | YCBT |
| QRing, Colmi Fit | BlueX (Colmi) |
Ringlo handles both YCBT and BlueX, so you usually don't even need to figure this out — just scan and pair. The mapping mostly matters when you're deciding whether a ring is worth buying.
What is an ATS8266 or DL110 ring?
The Actions Semiconductor ATS8266 chip paired with the DL110 reference design is the single most common cheap-smart-ring platform — sold under dozens of brand names with near-identical hardware. It speaks the YCBT protocol, and it's fully supported by Ringlo: heart rate, SpO2, blood pressure, sleep, steps, and HRV. The DL110 is the ring the Ringlo team wears and tests daily — it's hardware-verified.
Which rings work with Ringlo?
- YCBT / DL110 (ATS8266) rings — full support, verified. Heart rate, SpO2, blood pressure, sleep, steps, and HRV.
- Colmi R02, R03, R06, R10 — work on both firmwares. Whether the ring shipped with SmartHealth/HBand/Wearfit/YCBT Life (YCBT) or QRing/Colmi Fit (BlueX), you get heart rate, SpO2, sleep, and steps. Blood pressure isn't available on the Colmi/QRing path. The R10 is hardware-verified; R02, R03, and R06 are supported via BlueX and require Bluetooth bonding.
- Any other ring that exposes standard Bluetooth services — Basic mode. If a ring isn't YCBT or BlueX but advertises the standard Bluetooth heart-rate and battery services, Ringlo reads heart rate and battery only — no SpO2, blood pressure, or sleep.
Which rings don't work?
- Colmi R11 uses a different HID chip and doesn't pair.
- Bare-named or unusual Colmi variants (such as some R04 units) aren't detected during scanning.
- Bonding-gated rings that fail Android's pairing step won't connect.
- Rings that speak neither YCBT nor BlueX and don't expose the standard Bluetooth heart-rate service can't be read at all.
The 10-second check. The fastest way to know is to try it. Download Ringlo (free 14-day trial, no credit card), open it, and tap Scan on the pairing screen with the ring within a foot of your phone. A compatible ring shows up in about 10 seconds — tap to connect. If nothing appears, charge the ring for 10 seconds to wake it, then scan again.
